Reprographics

Reprography: the art or process of creating, printing and reproducing documents and graphic material.

The school Reprographics Department I facilitate supports teaching and learning through the timely provision of a variety of printed resources and graphic design.

High volume colour & mono printing, on A4, A5 and A3 paper and card. Integral folding and stapling of worksheets, booklets, pamphlets etc. Creation and production of labels, stickers, postcards, flyers, certificates, posters.

Teaching and learning time is valuable, teachers and support staff at the frontline of secondary school education are well aware that their own time is also valuable. Our department is here to create and produce requested printed resources, making more preparation and teaching time for staff.

Mindful of good service, a timely response to print requests is just part of the value we provide. As a reprographics service, we aim to turnaround print requests from all staff, within hours. Juggling numerous requests from multiple staff can be exacting, but scheduling work so we meet required deadlines is an essential part of the service provided.

Effective and Cost-Efficient

We aim to work cost-effectively and efficient.

Does it need to be in colour?
Could it be printed smaller?
Could you get more out of a sheet of paper?

We I help you with this – just ask!

Requests may be for a few dozen worksheets, a few 1000 booklets, through to a varied mix of classroom material; reward cards, certificates, posters, notices, incentives etc. The quality and broad range of items possible is notable.  Work may be single-color, full-colour, stitched, folded, hope-punched, laminated, bound… all on a variety of stock materials and finishes.

From scheduled test material and syllabus resources to items designed for more kinesthetic, tactile and visual learning, our daily output is significant and varied.

In an age of digital information, printed visual material is still important in our education system. Printed material can be used in classrooms to encourage students’ learning process and make it easier and interesting. Quality printed graphic material can be a great tool, helping make teaching and the dissemination of knowledge more effective and more successful.

How much?!

  • Post author By julesprichards
  • Post date May 1, 2021

In my daily work, I often get people asking “can I have some paper?”, “a few sheets”, “a pile of card” … When consulted about how much people actually require, they are often unsure. We then move on to what size and colour?

People often do not know what they want, and expect me to know what the person who asked them to ask for something wants. It’s a spooky thing! Believe it or not, I do not know how much you need.

So just for the record, here goes… the quantities below are not set in stone, but if you don’t know how much you are asking for, this is what you might receive.

If you insist on being vague, just add ‘quite’ at the start of your request … ‘quite a few’ multiplies the few by an unknown quantity. It’s a spooky thing!

Actual paper quantities:
“A pack” of paper, is a ream which is 500 sheets.
25 sheets = 1 quire
500 sheets = 20 quires = 1 ream
1,000 sheets = 2 reams = 1 bundle
5,000 sheets = 5 bundles = 1 bale

Reprographics: it’s part of what I do…

Selling you house? Logo, promo and flyer design.

  • Post author By julesprichards

Another seemingly small but important job for a friend who needed a logo styling for a new venture.
What might seem like a small thing, is, in fact, a very important consideration. Your identity, your visual signature, the flag you wave, your calling card, your shop window, your brand. This matters. It’s about sharing values, promise and reputation. It’s about shaping perceptions.

“Your brand is the single most important investment you can make in your business”

— STEVE FORBES, FORBES MAGAZINE

From their

brief, I offered a few initial draft ideas…

Leonum-Property-Logo-Drafts
Leonum-Property-Visual-ID-Guidelines

One of which developed into the chosen logo.

Leonum Property will soon be looking for property in Leicestershire and are planning a promotional push with the help of flyers and social media.

A local dietitian – Keeping Nutrition Simple

Another small design job completed recently…

But this small job is one of the most important parts of a new venture.

Your visual identity, what people see when they seek, search or think of your product or service.

The  branding of your service is an important element when launching your shop window to the world. The ‘shop window’ these days is in a large part online, as well as on leaflets or flyers.

Cindy is looking to develop her one-to-one services shortly and asked me to develop some ideas for a logo and branding.

Based in Leicester, Cindy provides diet and nutrition advice relating to issues such as weight management, IBS, diabetes, malnutrition, etc.

We wish Cindy all the best!

Again… a strong visual style helps reinforce your standards.

After Sports Massage, comes Science Tuition… naturally.

Another friend has asked me to put some visual consistency to their services as a one-to-one science tutor.
As mentioned before when people see consistency and quality in your visual brand, it can convey strength, reliability, and professionalism.

So here below is a new logo and styling for KNTutoring in Leicester.

Kieran will use this on promotional posters etc as well as online to visually reinforce his services.

As before a few designs were considered but the above was chosen.

You can see other material I have produced here.

If I can help you create a strong consistent styling or just tidy up your existing material just gi’s a shout.

Eighteen images from 2018

  • Post author By julesprichards
  • Post date January 4, 2019

Over the last few years, I have featured some of the ‘stuff’ I’ve produced throughout the year; 2017  2016.

Yes, I’ve worked on a few ‘other’ projects for people this year, but just a few select favours.

Instead, I continue to enjoy the small amount of functional creativity (and the large amount of productivity) involved in my 9-5 job.

Throughout 2018, my 50th year alive, I have tried to take a few deep breaths, and just ‘notice the sky and feel the wind’ as a friend put it recently.

I bike, I create images, and I try my best to be present… I’d like to wish you best wishes for 2019!

Back to the topic – here are eighteen relatively random pics, quickly plucked from my various online streams. You can see my Instagram feed here: @julesprichards

And here are all of last year’s (2018) witterings below:

Tale as old as time…?
One by one…
Bike Gadgets – Lights
That was November
The Lane, reimagined…
To be more porous…
Biking Gadgets
Belts, not chains, a year on.
Sunday Mornings
Sports Massage
Fractions Percentages – a visual resource
Persian Silk Tree
Sit up and breathe!
A few weeks out…
How much?!
Conversation with constructions
Just a person, on a bike…
On your wall…
Let them make cake.
Movement
Joy and meaning.
Sleep Note
Hoodwinked?

Sports Massage

GHMRBusiCardPicS

I just completed a branding job for sports massage therapist  George Himan based in Leicester.  George asked me for a new logo and graphic identity for his business; something “clean, tidy and to the point”.

George provides “a convenient mobile service designed to fit around your busy schedule. A session designed to meet your individual needs. This can vary from full body massage to injury/recovery specific massage”.

After playing with a few options we all agreed on was in fact my first sketch.

An update to the original Post: We’ve now produced flyers, vouchers, vinyl banners, and integrated the style on clothing and online – you can see GHMR here.

Brand consistency is important and it pays to manage this well – when people see quality and consistency in your visual brand, they see strength, reliability, and professionalism.

Fractions Percentages – a visual resource

  • Post author By julesprichards
  • Post date August 23, 2018

A few years back, while working for schools and public libraries throughout the country, I created a variety of educational bookmarks. Various versions of my measure / fraction / percentage bookmark design were used in many areas. These simple bookmarks were found to be a useful visual numeracy resource.
I have recently reworked the design for a local school, using ‘100 square’ graphics rather than pie-chart graphics. It’s a simple thing that might help children to visualise the concepts.

These bookmarks remind me of the happy feedback I received.
You can download a printable PDF of the above bookmark here: Fractions Percentages Bookmark

Also, I’ve contacted John Duffty at Mathsticks.com and recomposed his great Maths Bookmark idea.
Two simple bookmark designs to engage the user with numbers.
John says “the children used the questions independently and were very keen to let us know if they had found an interesting answer, or discovered a ‘fun’ number fact”.
You can download a printable PDF of my design here: MathsBookmarks.PDF
